Situated on the eastern slopes of Beacon Hill, this house is set back from Walpole Street facing a broad lawn - all in a commanding presence on the edge of Norwood's Commercial district. 21 Walpole Street's site is historically significant as the former location of the old Congregational parsonage which was built as early as 1736. The house number 21 Walpole Street was built ca.1895-1898 by Dr. Francis M. Craigin and was later owned by Charles A. Briggs, a wholesale confectioner and baker who had an ice cream parlor at Norwood Center.
